Roboforce will lead the way for the Nacelleverse, as The Nacelle Company’s new universe opens with a line of comics.
They’re back!
Some of the best-loved niche lines of the 80s are coming back, thanks to the Nacelleverse. In the works for a while now, the Nacelle Company’s new fictional universe has already has kicked off in a way, with a line of action figures that so-far includes Roboforce and Sectaurs. It’ll be going much deeper than that though, with the likes of Biker Mice from Mars and more, all of which will be heading to animated action in short order.
But before the toons begin, there are some comics to talk about. From publisher Oni, the push will start with a double-sized Nacelleverse #0 issue on March 20th, which we told you about a while back. That will serve as an intro to the action, and presumably lead into Roboforce #1 (of 3) in April.
From there, fans can expect a whole set of three issue mini-series’, with each one starring a different classic property.
ROBOFORCE #1 begins in 2091, a little over a year after the RoboForce were rendered obsolete, replaced by the superior Utopia Aegis 101 bots. The NacelleVerse comic series leads fans directly into the upcoming Nacelle Company animated series co-produced by Brian Volk-Weiss and Seven Bucks Productions’ Dwayne Johnson, Dany Garcia, Hiram Garcia, and Brian Gewirtz.
Meet Maxx 89, the latest and greatest innovation in the field of robotics! As a member of RoboForce–the crew of highly advanced androids redefining technological advancement on 22nd-century Earth–there’s no job too big for him to handle. But when a rival company steals their creator’s newest invention in a brazen act of corporate warfare, Maxx and the high-powered Detonator are determined to get it back . . . even if it means breaking company protocol!

Working with Nacelle and Oni Press to create an original prequel to the Robo Force animated series in comic form has been an incredible adventure,” said writer Melissa Flores. “This miniseries will dive deeper into Maxx 89 and Detonator’s complicated relationship, showing us their true motivations and state of mind as they figure out their place in futuristic Chicago. As for launch dates, Roboforce #1 will be out on April 17th, with Biker Mice from Mars #1 (of 3) in July. Additionally, Oni has made the announcement for Sectaurs and Power Lords titles, though those don’t have release dates just yet. We do have a really neat announcement to add on though, with a special pre-order bundle for those who want to go all in.
The pack will include “the complete first year of Oni’s NacelleVerse publishing initiative”, according to Oni, complete with “exclusive pre-order editions of all 13 issues”. But that’s not all, as fans will also receive what sounds like a super-limited edition action figure.
From the universe of Roboforce, the figure can be seen in the image to the right, and brings the villainous TERBL to fan’s shelves. TERBL will stand 4″ tall, with 5 points of articulation, and will only be offered through this pre-order bundle deal. So if you want him, you might want to inquire.
PLEASE NOTE: Oni Press can only guarantee orders for the NACELLEVERSE: YEAR ONE PRE-ORDER BUNDLE received at Diamond Comic Distributors or Lunar Distribution by the Final Order Cut-Off (FOC) date of February 26th, 2024. Single issues corresponding to the bundle will be fulfilled to retailers monthly upon their solicited Direct Market release dates. The bundle-exclusive TERBL figure is projected to be fulfilled directly to retailers in late 2024.
