Just in time to scare up some Halloween terror, Paramount+’s Pet Sematary: Bloodlines debuts today

Go back to where the evil of Pet Cemetery began in Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, a new movie hitting Paramount+ today.

It’s a PET Sem-ah-taaaarrrraaaayyy

Most horror fans are probably familiar with the 1989 original Pet Sematary film, and likely the 2019 reboot as well. Both versions of the story were, of course, based on the classic Stephen King novel of the same name, which brought a terrifying tale to readers/viewers.

That was a story about a plot of land, cursed by an ancient evil, which had become a… pet cemetery. The thing was, anything buried there could come back to haunt the living, and it wouldn’t come back as its old self, but instead as a kind of wicked revenant.

Paramount+’s Pet Sematary: Bloodlines isn’t based on either of those films, but instead takes its inspiration directly from the original book, and a chapter that’s never been adapted before. As such, it serves as a prequel to the story that genre fans know, and if you haven’t read the book, well it’s kind of all-new.

Directed by Lindsey Anderson Beer, the film also has a killer cast. Included are Jackson White, Forrest Goodluck, Jack Mulhern, Henry Thomas, Natalie Alyn Lind, Isabella Star LaBlanc, and Samantha Mathis, as well as the iconic Pam Grier and David (freaking) Duchovny.

In 1969, a young Jud Crandall has dreams of leaving his hometown of Ludlow, Maine behind, but soon discovers sinister secrets buried within and is forced to confront a dark family history that will forever keep him connected to Ludlow. Banding together, Jud and his childhood friends must fight an ancient evil that has gripped Ludlow since its founding, and once unearthed has the power to destroy everything in its path. Based on the never before told chapter from Pet Sematary, Stephen King’s chilling novel, Pet Sematary: Bloodlines is a spine-tingling prequel exploring the origins of how death became different in the small town of Ludlow and why sometimes dead is better…

Paramount+ press release

Pet Sematary: Bloodlines should be out right now via Paramount+, so if you’re a subscriber you should be good to go for an October fright.
