Penance can be reserved, as Blasphemous 2 is now up for pre-order

One of the biggest indie game releases of 2023, brutal side-scrolling sequel Blasphemous 2 is ready for for fans to pre-order some penance.

Time for the cone-helmet again

A smash hit with both fans and critics, Blasphemous was a revelation for many. The fantasy-themed Metroidvania was tough as nails, and brought a dark, gritty and blood-soaked world to life for the first time. Now developer The Game Kitchen is set to return with a sequel that looks to raise the bar for all of thee above, with the return of The Penitent One.

Featuring three unique weapons to acquire and master, and an enhanced skillset to choose from, players will have to use these new tools to survive and explore a land hell bent on sending them back to the grave. Monstrous enemies and challenges lurk around every corner, and The Penitent One must face them all in his mission to stop the prophetic birth of a new Child of the Miracle while collecting scattered pieces of lore, unpicking long forgotten secrets, and avoiding death’s final embrace time and time again.

Team17 press release

Ready for more Blasphemous? Well, the game’s still a little ways off, but as mentioned you can definitely lock up a copy now. Publisher Team17 has announced that pre-orders are indeed open, for both digital and physical editions of the game.

Those pre-orders cover all three current generation consoles, as well as the PC. Speaking of the latter too, there’ll be a digital deluxe edition available for Steam. That will include the base game, plus a soundtrack and art book. So if you love Blasphemous, you might want to think about that one.

The digital launch will be global, arriving on August 24th for all platforms. The physical boxed versions will be exclusive to consoles, and will be landing on September 15th.
