Did you see the the video that actor Tom Cruise posted to social media? Well there’s plenty more where that came from. Get ready for Dead Reckoning.
Action man
Say what you want about Tom Cruise, but the mega-star knows action. And on top of that, he also knows how to appreciate his fans. That much was evident from the video he posted to social media channels, where he jumps out of a freaking plane while thanking audiences for supporting Top Gun: Maverick.
As you can see, that video comes from the set of Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning. That’s the movie that Cruise is filming right now, of course being the next in the incredibly popular Mission: Impossible series. If you didn’t know too, it’s part one of two, with the two-halves hitting theaters about a year apart.
It’s been a series that’s loaded up with huge action, twisting storylines, and over the top stunt-work. From the looks of things, all of that will be carrying over into Dead Reckoning, with maybe a little emphasis on the stunts.
According to Paramount Pictures, part one of the mini-series will have the “biggest stunt in cinema history”. Again, if you’ve seen pretty much any of the M:I movies, then you know what a claim that actually is.
How big is it? Well, Cruise did over 500 skydives and 13,000 motocross jumps to prepare for it. Yes, Cruise. Stuntmen are incredibly skilled performers in their own right, but Cruise did this one himself.
Mission: Impossible – Dead Reckoning Part 1 is set for release in theaters on July 14th, 2023. It’s written and directed by Christopher McQuarrie, and stars Tom Cruise as Ethan Hunt, Hayley Atwell, Ving Rhames, Simon Pegg, Rebecca Ferguson, Vanessa Kirby, Esai Morales, Pom Klementieff, Mariela Garriga, Henry Czerny, Shea Whigham, Greg Tarzan Davis, Frederick Schmidt, Charles Parnell, Rob Delaney, Cary Elwes, Indira Varma, Mark Gatiss.
