Dead Strange coming up from Hot Toys

One of the more unique looks for a variant Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness film, Dead Strange is the next Marvel figure from Hot Toys.

Spoiler alert

Doctor Strange and the Multiverse of Madness was fairly loaded up with cameos. And it’s a list that also included more than one variant of the title character. But it you’re going to name one that stood out, it’s probably Dead Strange here.

A risen version of the Sorcerer Supreme (yes, I know), Dead Strange is what happened when the Doc leapt between universes and into that alternate u’s version of him. And in this case, it wasn’t putting up much of a fight since it was a variant that’d kicked the bucket.

The scene takes place right before the film’s finale, and sets up the battle at Wundagore. And even if you’re not into “Marvel Zombies” (and I’m not), it makes for a pretty wicked figure.

Hot Toys latest is just that, complete with all the trimmings.

The creepily realistic Dead Strange 1/6 Scale Figure has a movie-accurate appearance — complete with damaged muscle tissue and exposed skeleton parts — capturing the horror of Doctor Strange dreamwalking from the post-incursion universe into his variant’s corpse. Also included are the Souls of the Damned who scream at him for possessing a dead body before the final showdown at Mount Wundagore.

Meticulously crafted based on the appearance of Benedict Cumberbatch as Dead Strange in the movie, the figure features a newly developed head and hair sculpt with frighteningly beautiful hand-painted details.

His outfit includes a decaying multilayered tunic, sculpted boots, and a distressed cape with sculpted Souls of the Damned heads. An ultra-detailed Souls of the Damned accessory with articulated arms is also attachable to the figure’s back.

A selection of interchangeable hands and a dynamic figure display base complete the display and allow for a wide range of posing options.

Sideshow Toys press release

Dead Strange is set to ship out in the second half of 2023, and is up for pre-order right now. He’s priced in at $385.
