Marvel makes Venom #1 official, hits this October

A new era is beginning for Marvel’s number one symbiote. This October will bring a fresh Venom #1 to stands, with an all-new creative team.

We are (still) Venom

If you’re any kind of Marvel fan, then you know that symbiotes in general have been a huge element in the Marvel Comics Universe as of late. The last few years have brought us Venom, Carnage, and Knull (god of the symbiotes) events galore. But now that the biggest of them has come and gone, it’s time for a little revamp of Eddie’s other.

That means a… wait for it… new run! Yes, there’ll be a new Venom #1 on stands this October, following on the heels of the #200 issue (no word on legacy numbering continuing), and it’ll intro a new story, direction, and creative team.

Marvel already has the hyperbole-train a-rolling for this one, calling it “one of the most ambitious series in symbiote history”. Whether or not that turns out to be on point has yet to be seen, but the book is definitely getting started on the good foot. That’s due to the excellent team behind it.

For one thing, Al Ewing will be writing the stories, and if you’re familiar with him and his past work, I need explain no further. If not, look up Immortal Hulk. The beginning of his run on that was acclaimed by both readers and critics.

Venom #1 cover by Bryan Hitch

Joining him will be artist Bryan Hitch, who’s likewise a phenomenal talent, and writer Ram V. Another writer? Yes, apparently Marvel will have the two sharing the title for Venom, an interesting turn. It’s one though, that Ram is most definitely up for.

“When my editors at Marvel reached out about taking on Venom alongside Al Ewing and Bryan Hitch, I was not prepared for the kind of creative thrill it has been ever since,” Ram V said. “This story is going to expand and push the symbiote narrative and lore in even more unexpected and fantastic directions. It is also an utter thrill having the sort of call and response mechanic I’ve had with a writer like Al and an artist of Bryan’s caliber. Fans and new readers, strap in— you ain’t seen nothin’ yet.”

Ready for Eddie? Venom #1 hits stands on October 13th.

About Jason Micciche

Jason's been knee deep in videogames since he was but a lad. Cutting his teeth on the pixely glory that was the Atari 2600, he's been hack'n'slashing and shoot'em'uping ever since. Mainly an FPS and action guy, Jason enjoys the occasional well crafted title from every genre.
