Gamescom 20: Blood Bowl III announced

Get ready to take the field and fight like your life depends on it… because it kind of does. Blood Bowl III is coming, and we’ve got your first look.

Hard-hitting

NACON and Cyanide studio have officially taken the wraps off of a third Blood Bowl game this week at Gamescom. And if you don’t know why that’s exciting, well you don’t know Blood Bowl.

A Games Workshop tabletop-translation of American Football, Blood Bowl sets the familiar gridiron up in a world that’s a little more mystical, and a lot more violent. Yes, Blood Bowl takes place in the Olde World of Warhammer, and has all the trappings thereof.

Here’s your first look:

Blood Bowl 3 is the videogame of fantasy football. A turn-based strategy game inspired by American football in the Warhammer fantasy world where elves, humans, orcs and other creatures fight for the ball with shoulder charges, kicks, punches and weapons of varying degrees of lethality (and legality by the ref). As the coach, you must give instructions to your players: hinder the progress of your opponents by positioning them in your tackle zone, knock down those who get in your way, and break through to your opponents’ end zone to score a touchdown!

NACON

While we don’t have a ton of gameplay to look at, we do have some details to share. NACON says that the game will offer a roster of 12 teams from across the Olde World. And those will include newcomers to the franchise like the Black Orcs and Imperial Nobility.

Each will have their own units to play, and associated skills. You’ll be able to level up your team as well, as you play, and accrue bonuses. Of course, on the flip side of that, you’ll also have to manage injuries. And there are gonna be a lot of those.

Blood Bowl III has no release date yet, but will be coming along in 2021.
