All 3 game platforms move over 1.3 million units in November

This Holiday season has been a very good one, and it’s not even over. All three of the big boys moved over 1.3 million units in the US last month.

Game time

Recently we reported on Nintendo’s numbers. The company was touting some excellent figures stretching back to the launch of the Switch, reporting that their newest is the fastest selling console of any from the current crop. But be that as it may, all three of the modern consoles seem to be doing pretty darn well.

According to the latest NPD reports, the PS4, Xbox One, and Switch all moved 1.3 million units last month in the US. That’s big. How big? It’s reportedly the first time it’s ever happened. Hardware was up some 3% year over year, as were accessory and wallet card purchases.

Not that all of the news is good. Apparently games sales were down, which equalled up to industry sales on the whole being about even with last year. That’s not great, but getting more consoles into people’s homes definitely is. So we might be seeing something in this season’s sales, that will bear fruit for all in 2019.

Oddly enough, that’s just when we’re expecting to seriously start hearing about the next generation. Rumor has it that Microsoft will be discussing a pair of Xbox’ (one high end and one low) that’ll be ushering in a new age of X in 2020. As for Sony, we know they’re up to something too, but what it is is a little more mysterious. They’re not even showcasing at E3 next year, which might mean that they’re planning a big reveal later in 2019.

Stay tuned.
