Action RPG gamers are having a great year on the Switch, and it just got even better. Blizzard’s excellent Diablo III is on the way.
Third devil
“The Eternal Collection is the definitive version of Diablo III, and we’re thrilled to team up with Nintendo to unleash it for Nintendo Switch gamers around the world later this year,” said Mike Morhaime, CEO and cofounder of Blizzard Entertainment. “Bringing the world together through epic entertainment is core to our mission at Blizzard—we can’t wait to welcome a new generation of demon-slayers to Sanctuary.”
An absolutely epic aRPG, Diablo III might just be the fastest-selling PC game of all time, and has already had stellar editions hit the other consoles of this generation. Now it’s the Switch’s turn. But this is not exactly what you think, as it’s not the same version that saw release for Xbox One and PS4.
This version, officially titled the Eternal Collection, includes both the Reaper of Souls and Rise of the Necromancer expansion packs. That means 7 classic to play as and a five act campaign to wage war across. In addition, there’s the Adventure Mode, which allows gamers to adventure past the storyline.
The game will also support four player multiplay via a number of possibilities. Of course, you can play on a TV, but you’ll also be able to play online or wirelessly string Switch’s together. It sounds like you might be able to even play co-op on a single tabletop-mode console too. Though I imagine that last option might get a little crowded.
If you’re wondering what might be exclusive to Switch, that’d be some in-game items. The Switch version of Diablo III will include stuff like “The Legend of Ganondorf cosmetic armor set”, and more.
Release date? GameStop has it pegged for December 21st. That might be a placeholder, but even so I’d imagine it won’t be too far into the future. Keep your ear to the ground.
