Activision brings classic Call of Duty map back for WWII’s multiplayer

Carentan is back. For CoD: WWII, that means gritty street-fighting, plenty of buildings to dart in and out of, and a big old gunship.

Covering fire!

According to Activision, Carentan is one of the “most beloved” Call of Duty maps from the series’ WWII days. And now it’s making a pretty big (you might say explosive) comeback. A part of the new game’s multiplayer mode, Carentan promises some exciting gameplay with gamers taking it to each other in the streets of a small urban center.

Of course, this isn’t an intact town that we’re talking about here. Thanks to the widespread destruction of (the real world) second Great War, Carentan has seen better days. The devastation that constant fighting brings has taken a heavy toll and buildings lay in rubble.

While that wouldn’t bee too great if you lived there, it’s the perfect fodder for a multiplayer map in Call of Duty’s return to WWII. And from the looks of the above video, it could be quite a harrowing play through.

Call of Duty: WWII  is set for release this week (November 3rd). Look for Carentan to be ready on day one for both Season Pass and Digital Deluxe Edition owners. No word yet on availability for those wishing to purchase the map a’la carte.
