Doctor Doom, times two? That’s just what’s on tap with this summer’s Doomed 2099, bringing the future-Doc back to the present.
Whoo that’s a lotta Doom
As long time Marvel Comics fans know, one of the coolest things about the “2099” line of comics was Doctor Doom. More or less the actual Victor Von Doom, just plunked into a new time, Doom 2099 headed up both his own book and a series of big stories under Marvel’s futuristic sub-line. And while we haven’t seen much of him to date in the modern 2099 titles, we’re about to. Sort of.
A one-shot issue, Doomed 2099 #1 will see that same version of the Doc returning to the present Marvel U, for some business with the Sorcerer Supreme. And no, we’re not talking about Strange, remember that Doom currently holds that title, as he heads up the currently raging crossover event. So does that mean that Doomed 2099 is a crossover with One World Under Doom? The press release is honestly a little hazy to that end, but it seems like it might be.
THE FUTURE IS DOOMED!
The world is Doom’s…but does that include the world that is yet to be? A coalition from the future – including Old Man Logan, Rachel Summers, the Phoenix; Bishop, Cosmic Ghost Rider, the Maestro and Deathlok say otherwise. But will the arrival of Doom 2099 change the odds for the new Sorcerer Supreme? Is he there to back his past self…or destroy him forever?
“Look, I’ve widely been known as a ‘villains guy’ throughout my career so naturally when Marvel approached me to work on this event with not one but two of the greatest baddies of all time, well… it was an offer I couldn’t refuse, as they say,” Tieri shared. “And you’re not only getting ‘Double the Doom’ with this one shot, kids… ‘cause 2099’s bringing some friends from the future to even the odds! So is Doom 2099 looking to become the new Sorcerer Supreme? Or is his mission much more disturbing than that? I think fans will be surprised at the answer.”
