Daredevil #20 to put the hero back in his 90s black armor

This year, the devil is back in black. Marvel Comics has revealed that Daredevil is set to once again don his black armor.

Cue the music

Now, we don’t have a ton of info on this yet, but we’re honestly kinda excited about it so we’re running with the teaser that Marvel sent over anyway. And yes, it’s that Daredevil #20 will see the hero of Hell’s Kitchen wearing his black armor once again.

Last seen not all that long ago, but in a flashback tale, the black armor originally debuted in 1993’s Daredevil #321. A stark contrast to the hero’s usual duds, the armor was majorly black in color, with highlighting and a chest panel that were done in red.

Variant cover by Philip Tan

Along with that, it featured heavily armored shoulder pauldrons, plus silver armor pieces on the legs and wrists. Whether you liked it or not was up to you, as the suit was a little divisive. But that said, we loved it, and we’re thrilled to see it’s coming back.

In April’s DAREDEVIL #20 by Saladin Ahmed and José Luis Soares, DAREDEVIL suits up in his iconic black armor to face off against a new enemy, while Matt Murdock finds comfort in the arms of a former flame!

Marvel Comics press release

For just how long the costume is going to be back, we don’t know, and as you can see, Marvel isn’t revealing too many story points just yet for what’ll be the April issue of Daredevil. Still, the suit is looking awesome, penciled by Philip Tan for what’ll be a variant cover.

The interiors for the book itself will hail from artist José Luis Soares, with Saladin Ahmed writing. Along with a standard cover from John Romita Jr., Daredevil #20 should hit the racks on April 9th.
