Hope you weren’t planning on spending your Valentine’s Day with Ubisoft’s Assassin’s Creed Shadows, as the game’s been delayed.
Huh.
What a saga it continues to be for Assassin’s Creed Shadows. A game that should have been a slam dunk for Ubisoft, the feudal Japan-set Shadows has been met with controversy since it was announced. That was due to one of its heroes, Yasuke.
A playable historic figure, which will be a first for the series, the decidedly not-Japanese Yasuke is presented as a full Samurai in the game, though there’s evidence that wasn’t quite the case when it came to the actual man.
Many fans online had noted that, for a series that has always put a great deal of emphasis on historic events, it comes across as a strange element. But it’s also worth saying that we don’t know the events of Assassin’s Creed Shadows‘ actual story, and there might be a good reason Yasuke is in the position that he’s in.
Regardless of all that though, Shadows had been handed a major delay by Ubi, pushing it from last fall to this coming February the 14th. And now it’s been delayed one more time. This latest nudge will push the game back a little over a month into March, seeing it arrive at retail on the 20th.
Ubisoft announced the delay via its X account, which you can check out below.
