It’s shaping up to be a Superman kinda year in 2025, as the first look at the latest film arrives with an onslaught of merchandise.
The DCU begins
So here we are, with the ashes of the DC Extended Universe finally fading away and the new DCU about to dawn. Not that it kind of hasn’t kinda ‘dawned’ already. A number of DCEU (the old shared-universe) films and TV shows are still going to be canon in the age to come after all, and the animated Creature Commandos (the first project for the DCU) is out now.
All of the above has taken place under the eye of director James Gunn, as well as Peter Safran. The two will be guiding DC Comics’ reforged movie and TV universe, and their first big tentpole will be none other than Superman.
A movie that’s set to open on July 11th, 2025, Superman will introduce fans to actor David Corenswet’s version of Clark Kent, plus a host of DC heroes and villains. We got our first look at all of the above today, with a trailer that sees the Man of Tomorrow down, but not out.
And Krypto. There’s also Krypto.
“Superman,” DC Studios’ first feature film to hit the big screen, is set to soar into theaters worldwide this summer from Warner Bros. Pictures. In his signature style, James Gunn takes on the original superhero in the newly imagined DC universe with a singular blend of epic action, humor and heart, delivering a Superman who’s driven by compassion and an inherent belief ina the goodness of humankind.
DC Studios heads Peter Safran and Gunn are producing the film, which Gunn directs from his own screenplay, based on characters from DC, Superman created by Jerry Siegel and Joe Shuster.
