Fresh from a hit big screen run, Alien: Romulus hits digital next month

Director Fede Alvarez oversaw a triumphant theatrical return for the Alien franchise, and now Alien: Romulus is coming home.

Check those corners

Did you know that Alien: Romulus was originally meant for streaming? And weird as it might seem now, the sci-fi/horror flick was almost caught up in the weirdness of the modern movie industry. Of course in hindsight, it’s a particularly good thing that didn’t happen, since the movie was a theatrical smash.

Romulus was the second highest grossing film in the franchise (behind Prometheus), pulling in over $342 million USD on a budget of $80mil. Now the movie is heading home, and it’s about to do so just in time for some Halloween scares.

Set to hit digital storefronts Prime Video, Apple TV, and Fandango at Home, Alien: Romulus will arrive on October 15th. But if you’re a physical format fan, not to worry because your day is coming. A set of releases is planned for December 3rd.

Alien: Romulus will drop at stores then, in 4K Ultra HD, Blu-ray, and DVD formats. It’s not just basic editions on the way either, as a steelbook will arrive, along with a double pack, including both Romulus and the original Alien film.

For those who like to expand their viewing experience with bonus features, you’re covered as well. While it’s not clear as to which versions of the movie will contain which features, there is a whole host of them set to be available. Just make sure you check before you buy, to make sure you’re going to get the ones you want.
