Star Wars: Ahsoka’s Zombie Death Trooper coming soon from Hot Toys

Fresh from Star Wars: Ahsoka, Hot Toys is prepping the undead version of the Death Trooper for collector’s shelves.

Meet the new Death Troopers, same as the old Death Troopers

It’s probably not all that edgy of a statement to say that one of the coolest things to come out of Star Wars: Ahsoka were the Night Troopers. Reanimated Stormtroopers who’d been killed in the line of duty, Night Troopers were brought to un-life thanks to a little Night Sister magic. If you’re a Star Wars fan of any depth though, this was all pretty familiar.

That’s of course due to the Legacy novels, which were horror tales featuring almost exactly the same monsters. The big difference came by way of the reanimation, which was originally done by a Dark Side virus, but the end result was basically the same. They were even called Death Troopers in those books, which we all know was a name that got repurposed for the all-black, cybernetic Imperial troops debuting in Star Wars: Rogue One.

Well, if you missed the show, Star Wars: Ahsoka kind of combined the two, with not just zombified Stormtroopers, but zombie Death Troopers too. And that was something that Hot Toys just couldn’t resist crafting for an upcoming drop in its Star Wars 12″ figure line.

The elite Imperial soldiers known as Death Troopers^™ are encased in specialized stormtrooper armor with a dark, ominous gleam. Under the command of Grand Admiral Thrawn two deadly Death Troopers were deployed to stop Ezra Bridger and Sabine Wren in a fierce battle.

This ultra-detailed and screen-accurate collectible figure by Hot Toys draws inspiration from the unique appearance of the Death Troopers as seen in the hit Disney Plus series, Star Wars: Ahsoka™. 

Standing approximately 12.7 inches ( 32.5cm) tall, the Death Trooper 1/6 Scale Figure features a unique cracked armor design with weathering effects and bronze paint applications, as well as red fabric ribbons wrapped around the body. An interchangeable damaged helmet reveals the ghoulish decaying jaw underneath! 

The figure also includes multiple swap-out accessories for a multitude of posing and display options.

As we mentioned, the zombified Death Trooper is indeed coming soon… ish. The figure has a launch window of October 2024 through March of 2025. So yeah, there might be some space between now and when you’ll actually be getting this figure in your own collection.

That’s not to say that you don’t still have a shot at adding a Death Trooper to your shelf though, as retailer Sideshow has opened a waiting list for the piece.
