Boomer Shooter sale “Boomstock” begins on Steam

Riffing on the classic line from the movie Army of Darkness, Fulqrum Publishing is holding a “Boomstock” sale on Steam. As the name implies, these discounts are all about games focused on blasting, though the name also ties into one of the latest industry buzz phrases, the Boomer Shooter.

A label that we usually avoid, Boomer Shooters are essentially retro-shooters. So they’re first-person shooters that are crafted to play like, resemble, and otherwise fall into the mold of games that might’ve been launched in the 90s or early 2k’s. But we digress, because it’s a sale that we’re talking about here.

Boomstock serves up deals aplenty on Fulqrum Publishing’s titles, some coming complete with fresh updates. But that’s not all either, as the sale is accompanied by a pair of new game launches, and even a freebie. Who can say no to something for nothing?

Said free title would be Diluvian Ultra: Awakening, a prequel to Cresthelm Studios and Fulqrum Publishing’s Diluvian Ultra. And as for those new games, those would be Hands of Necromancy II and Chains of Fury. Both games look pretty terrific, though we’re a little partial to Hands of Necromancy II. We never have been able to pass up on a good fantasy FPS.

Hands of Necromancy II

Chains of Fury

And that’s not the only game launching today! Cobble Games are delighted to bring you Volume I of the stylish sci-fi first person shooter title Chains of Fury. Volume I offers a high adrenaline, fast-paced Boomer Shooter where you have only one goal: spread furious mayhem among the scumbags keeping you locked up. Stuck looking for an exit? Just punch through walls and then shoot the suckers behind them.

This game is not for you if you want to save the world and become the hero everyone needs (or even deserves).
