SDCC ’24: The reimagining of The Crow gets a fresh poster and gruesome new clip

The “reimagining” of creator James O’Barr’s The Crow is speeding towards release, and has a brand new clip for fans to check out.

Caw

When you’re set to reimagine a genre classic like The Crow, it’s probably a good idea to do something different with it. After all, the Brandon Lee original is kind of a tough act to follow. That movie caught fire, encapsulating 90s zeitgeist and remaining a favorite of fans for decades.

So while the new film is once again based on that original James O’Barr graphic novel, it’s not a bad thing that it looks almost like a wholly new entry in the lore of The Crow. Starring Bill Skarsgård as the title character, the film is also looking a lot more high-impact, with some gruesome action and more blood and guts than before.

Just take the latest clip for example, which emerged from SDCC this past week. In it, the resurrected Eric Draven finds himself trying to take down a foe in a pretty unique action scene set in a moving car.

Bill Skarsgård takes on the iconic role of THE CROW in this modern reimagining of the original graphic novel by James O’Barr.

Soulmates Eric (Skarsgård) and Shelly (FKA twigs) are brutally murdered when the demons of her dark past catch up with them. Given the chance to save his true love by sacrificing himself, Eric sets out to seek merciless revenge on their killers, traversing the worlds of the living and the dead to put the wrong things right.

Lionsgate press release

From Lionsgate and director Rupert Sanders, and starring Skarsgård and FKA twigs as his lost love Shelly, The Crow once again darkens theaters (and IMAX) on August 23rd, 2024.
