As usual, Hasbro’s G.I. Joe team knocked it out of the park the other day, when it came to new announcements.
Cobraaaaaa
Okay, so we’ll admit it right at the top here, we’re big fans of what Hasbro is doing with G.I. Joe Classified. The 6″ scale line took the Joes up a notch from their decades-long 4″ form-factor a few years ago, and while it had a few little bumps at the top, it’s been smooth sailing since.
Classified has brought some new looks to the Joes and Cobra forces, plus ushered in new takes on iconic characters. Hasbro has even started to really go in more on vehicles, a huge part of the 80s line. Classified’s vehicles have include smaller offerings like the Trubble Bubbles, and larger ones like the VAMP and (upcoming) Stinger. All of that has been music to fans ears, and we didn’t even mention the massive HasLab stuff yet.
Speaking of that, Hasbro had a new reveal at SDCC that you’ve not doubt seen by now, with the Cobra Rattler. The jet includes all the bells and whistles, like lighting effects and tons of accessories. It also will include pilot Wild Weasel and has some neat stretch goals of more figures and some Cobra flight patches. Funded in no-time flat, the Rattler has over 10,900 backers at present and is about to hit the first goal.

Figures galore
Along with the above HasLab reveal, Hasbro also revealed a pile of new figures. Those include another key Dreadnok with Road Pig, a classic Joe in Starduster, plus a couple of two-packs that will deliver new takes on some existing figures, and niche character Quarrel.
That’s plus a pair of new troop-types for the Joes, with the Marine Sniper and the HALO Jumper, and that accountant we mentioned in the headline. Of course, we’re referring to Raptor, a complete lunatic who fancies himself a falconer, and is also a CPA. The modern take on him gives him considerably more credit than in the original run, with a slick jetpack that reminds us of the Vulture from Spider-Man: Homecoming.

Dreadnok Road Pig with Rawkus

Cobra Commander (Once a Man)

Finally, there was a full set of images for the SDCC 2024 exclusive Cobra Commander figure shown. The figure showcases the Commander’s look in the classic G.I. Joe animated movie from the 80s, and you know what that means.
He’s full-on, post spore-exposure, mutating into a cobra. If you’re into that somewhat divisive moment in Joe lore, it’s a pretty special set, including multiple parts that reflect a few stages of his transformation. Now, if you didn’t make it to SDCC, you might be out of luck on this guy, though you’ve still got a chance.
According to Hasbro, “small quantities” of Cobra Commander will be posted to the Hasbro Pulse online shop. When that might happen, we don’t know, but if you really want one make sure to stay tuned.
