Evercade expanding its line with pair of Capcom-loaded bartop arcades

Already offering handhelds and set-top boxes, Evercade is expanding again. This time it’s with two cart-friendly, mini-arcade units.

Changing the game

More than likely you know the name Evercade by now. The retro-gaming company opened its doors in 2020, and has grown rapidly with dozens of ‘collected’ cartridges. Those run the gamut from serving up arcade titles, to packing both classic PC and console games. On the hardware end, the company has likewise grown by leaps and bounds, with multiple gaming consoles and handhelds under its banner. But while all of that’s been well-established, Evercade is about to get even bigger, and in an unexpected way.

Meet the Evercade Alpha. The first offering in a new line, the Evercade Alpha cabinets are small form-factor, “bartop” styled arcade units. Each one comes complete with a pre-loaded stock of Capcom classics, but are also compatible with the collection of carts that Evercade already offers.

Slick? Yeah, we’d say so.

Evercade press release

As you can see there, the Evercade Alpha come complete with an 8″ screen, dual cartridge slots (like the Vs), twin USB controller ports, built-in wi-fi, swappable marquees, and more. There’s also a set of “Deluxe Editions” (exclusively at retailer Funstock) on the way that will include all of the above, in addition to an Evercade control pad, official Sanwa arcade controls, and more.

Fans can look for the Evercade Alpha to start hitting retail this November, with base pricing of $249.99 USD. You can get some cash off of that price tag and get it down to $229.99, by pre-ordering when the period opens up next week. Look for that on June 4th.
