Marvel’s latest Infinity Watch kicks off this June

The Stones are back and so is Thanos, as Marvel Comics brings back the Infinity Watch this summer, for a series of Annuals.

Now, this shouldn’t be a shock. We told you about this latest Infinity Stone tale a few months back after all, but yes, another major storyline factoring in the oft-used cosmic elements is on the way. Not that this is going to be a rehash however, as it does sound as though Infinity Watch shakes some things up.

Infinity Watch is the official title of what’s on the way, and will be spread out across a selection of Annuals that hitting retail this summer. The event will bring a twist to the referenced Stones in that they’ll be bonded to a cross-section of relatively unknown “up-and-coming heroes and villains”, and there’s a mysterious Death Stone now as well. Oh, and did we mention that Thanos is back and on the hunt for them once again? Not that we probably had to actually say that, but yeah.

As for who those Stones will be bonded too, so far we’ve only got a partial list. Star, Overtime, Prince of Power, Quantum, and Multitude, and Worldmind make up the new Infinity Watch. What, you thought we were kidding when we said these were unknowns?

The most coveted artifacts in the known universe have resurfaced, and this time, they’re bonded to the very bodies and souls of Marvel’s up-and-coming heroes and villains. The INFINITY WATCH crossover will be spearheaded by acclaimed writer Derek Landy (Captain America/Iron Man). In addition to writing key chapters of the event, Landy will team up with artist Sara Pichelli on backup stories in each of the nine annuals that follow the creation and pursuit of the mysterious Death Stone-bearer who will be revealed in THANOS ANNUAL #1.

So that’s the tale of the tape, as to what this new Infinity Watch story will offer. As for the individual books, we’ve also got a bit more news on that. Parts four through six have been detailed as of this week, with the books arriving in stores on July 31st, August 14th, and August 28th respectively.
