Acclaimed strategy game Sins of the Solar Empire returns this summer for part II

Publisher Stardock’s sci-fi strategy series is back. Sins of a Solar Empire II arrives on the PC this summer.

Sinful

Launched way back in 2008, Sins of a Solar Empire was a grand strategy title set in the depths of space, and was a major release for strategy fans. Put in control of a selection of factions, players had to dominate the front, and take control of both huge battles, and in-depth 4x-style management.

Fast-forward to this summer though, and Sins is back and looking better than ever. From Ironclad Studios, Sins of a Solar Empire II promises to deliver what sounds like a similar experience to the original, just a lot bigger.

The sequel “combines real-time strategy and 4X depth, delivering sprawling empires, huge tactical fleet battles, and unforgettable gameplay moments that can only be found in Sins II“.

In Sins of a Solar Empire II, players must guide their faction against the threat of extinction with three distinct races: the Trader Emergency Coalition, the Vasari Empire, or the Advent Unity. Each race has been updated with their own asymmetric playstyle including unique starting conditions, units, abilities, and game-changing Empire Systems.

Stardock press release

You got a look at some of the tactics and levels of play that’ll be available in Sins of a Solar Empire II, but there’s a lot more to it as well. According to publisher Stardock, the game’s galaxy will include minor factions that can be friend or foe, orbiting planets that’ll have players adjusting tactics, a new economy model, capital ships that can feature special augments, an in-game mod browser, 10 player online multi, and more.

There’s no release date just yet for Sins of a Solar Empire II, but you can expect to see it debut on the PC some time this summer.
