Nintendo Download: Beyond the Horizon

A nice week of new releases sees the Switch-arrival of some big games, in MLB The Show and Star Wars Battlefront Classics Collection.

Big time

While it’s not an overly heavy week for new game launches on the Nintendo Switch, there are some pretty big ones landing. Those, as you can see above, are headlined by MLB The Show ’24 and the Star Wars Battlefront Classics Collection.

The former is Sony’s yearly hardball sim of course, which made the leap from being a PlayStation exclusive to appearing on Xbox and Switch (as well) just a few years back. If you’re a fan of the sport, then that’s still a big deal, as there’s no other baseball title out there to match it. And while the Switch version isn’t as pretty as the PS5 and Xbox editions, it’s undeniably slick to have access to on the go.

As for this week’s second big launch, well we don’t think that Star Wars Battlefront needs much of a (re)introduction. Set in the famed sci-fi/fantasy universe, this new launch for the classic multiplayer-centric series bundles the first two games in the line, complete with 64 player online combat. Fans can field a trooper in multiple classes, use some of the most iconic vehicles the property is known for, and even make use of major characters like Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader (at times).

But wait, there’s more. Kingdom Come Deliverance: Royal Edition finally brings the gritty and realistic medieval game to life on Nintendo’s console, and the “visual detective novel” Death Trick: Double Blind arrives as well. Solid week overall.
