A throwback to the 64bit age, the family-friendly Cavern of Dreams is out now

Colorful and filled with cute creatures, Cavern of Dreams looks to bring back the age of the 3D platformer.

Dreaming of the 90s

Head back for a second, to an earlier and some would say ‘simpler’ time in gaming. It was a decade where a new kind of game was taking center stage for many game fans, and propelling consoles like the PlayStation and N64 to new heights. Naturally we’re talking about the 3D platformer. Now Bynine Studio and publisher Super Rare Originals are looking to bring that feel back, with Cavern of Dreams.

A cute platformer that stars a lil’ dragon, Cavern of Dreams is “a love letter to the golden age of 3D platformers”, according to the publisher, and one that’s meant for all ages. That’s something that you don’t see every day in the modern age.

Cavern of Dreams invites players to step into the scales of Fynn, a courageous young dragon on a daring quest to rescue his kidnapped siblings. Bounce, fly and platform as you explore a whimsical world brimming with lush environments, challenging puzzles and collectibles a-plenty.

In this vibrant, densely packed world, secrets and challenges lurk around every corner of the four distinct themed lands, branching out from the central hub. Each unlocks new areas and grants Fynn powerful abilities, amplifying the excitement as you inch closer to a heartwarming family reunion. So buckle up, adventurers – the journey begins now!

Super Rare Originals press release

Cavern of Dreams is out now, for the Nintendo Switch.
