Cult/horror Pixel Pulp title Bahnsen Knights arrives for PC, hitting consoles next month

Continuing LCB Game Studio and Chorus Worldwide’s Pixel Pulp series of horror games in Bahnsen Knights, out now on PC.

Extra pulp

Rolling for some time, the genre of the Pixel Pulp series of games is a little hard to nail down. Developer LCB Game Studio has created something that kind of treads the line between visual novels and adventure games, and has created a whole new horror universe in doing so.

That’s right, all of the games released in the set thus far are set in the same fictional universe, though each is a completely separate experience as well. Not only that, but the full line has been forged to reflect the look of home computer graphics, back in the 80s. The result is a ridiculously stylish looking series, and one that seems to be a continuously well-crafted one.

Here’s a look at the latest in the series Bahnsen Knights, a game that sends players up against a doomsday cult that has a little bit of a car-obsession.

The religious cult known as the Bahnsen Knights reigns terror on the highways as biblical storms rain havoc on the population. Their leader, a former car salesman named Toni, preaches hell is not below us, but above, as he leads the Ford Sierra-driving cultists across the country, performing “route exorcisms” along the way.

Infiltrate this cult as Boulder, an undercover agent attempting to dismantle them from within while hunting the whereabouts of his missing partner, Cupra. Establish trust with cult members to navigate hostile waters without arousing suspicion. Reveal their intentions as a cryptic collective and undermine their achievements via minigames, puzzles, and choice-based, branching storylines that can lead Boulder to the solution…and a number of grisly demises.

Bahnsen Knights serves as a standalone story in the Pixel Pulps anthology, a series of interactive fiction tales inspired by early 20th century pulp fiction with its over-the-top tales, and art paying homage to 1980s home computer graphics. Jump into the series for the first time and enjoy a brisk, 2-hour tale full of chills and thrills, while fans of Mothmen 1966 and Varney Lake can reunite with paranormal investigator Lou Hill…and find out why he’s locked in the trunk of a car.

Chorus Worldwide press release

Bhansen Knights is out right now (with a 10% launch discount) for the PC and Mac, via GOG and Steam. Console fans will have to wait just a little longer for the title however, as it’s not set to drop onto the Switch, and Xbox and PlayStation platforms until January 18th, 2024.
