Spider-Man 3’s symbiote Spidey announced by Hot Toys

Peter Parker went dark in Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3, and soon you’ll be able to add this black-costumed hero to your Hot Toys collection.

Dancing shoes not included

Spider-Man 3 might be the butt of a few jokes these days, but the dancing scene aside, it actually hits a few high notes that fans might’ve forgotten. For one thing, it remains the only big screen adaptation of the famous ‘symbiote saga’, and it’s also the only movie that’s actually pitted Spider-Man against one of his greatest foes, Venom.

But whether you dig the movie’s vision of that classic comic-book set of tales or not, you mind of have to admit that the black version of the original movie Spidey costume looked pretty great. While the comics cast it in pure black with white emblem and eyes, the movie basically made the core suit black and white, to a pretty great effect. And thanks to Hot Toys, you’ll soon be able to add a sixth scale version of it to your own collection.

Spider-Man (Black Suit) 1/6 Scale Collectible Figure by Hot Toys is expertly crafted based on the appearance of Tobey Maguire as Spider-Man / Peter Parker in Spider-Man 3. The figure features a new hand-painted headsculpt with Hot Toys’ rolling eyeball system, allowing fans to adjust the gaze, and also comes with an interchangeable masked head. Spider-Man’s symbiotic black suit has been faithfully recreated and features detailed texture with raised silver webbing patterns. Spidey comes with many accessories, including alien symbiote arms and head with protruding tongue, a Spider-Man mask, and assorted spider-web accessories.

The exclusive Special Edition includes an additional symbiote alien head for even more display options.

The Deluxe Version comes with a diorama figure base displaying the alien symbiote terrorizing Spider-Man in a crumbling structure, recreating the thrilling scene at the bell tower.  An exclusive Special Edition of the Deluxe Version also includes an additional alien symbiote head as bonus item..

Sideshow Toys press release

That’s a lot of editions, but then again this is the black-suited Spider-Man we’re talking about, and we all know he likes make a splash. All of the above are still quite a ways off though, and although pre-orders are open now, the figures are not set to ship until some time between October 2024 and March of 2025.
