Sega previews Sonic Dream Team with “opening animation” video

Set to bring the series back to iOS next month, Sega’s has revealed a first-look at Sonic Dream Team’s opening.

SEGA!

If you’re a Sonic the Hedgehog fan, then you have to be pretty happy with what this year has brought. Not only do console players have a new, classically-styled Sonic adventure to play with Sonic Superstars, but there’s also a new 3D title coming up. And while it might not be console-bound, it’s looking pretty slick.

In stark contrast to Superstars, Sonic Dream Team sends a more modern Sonic and friends back into the third dimension. This time though, it’s not for something as different as 2022’s Frontiers, but a much more familiar style of action-platforming mission.

But while the gameplay might remind players of Sonic’s past games, the platform is something new. That would be Apple’s iOS, as the new game will be a part of the hardware and software giant’s fresh gaming push.

To get fans amped for the imminent mobile arrival of the Blue Blur, Sega has revealed the intro cinematic for the game. Not only does the title sport a deep cast of Sonic faves, but this animation hails from Powerhouse Animation, and was directed by Tyson Hesse, with tunes from Tee Lopes. So yeah, it’s looking and sounding sharp.

In Sonic Dream Team, Dr. Eggman is up to his usual tricks in his quest for world domination and discovers an ancient device – The Reverie – that can make dreams a reality. Join Sonic and friends as they dive deep into the bizarre world of Eggman’s dreams and attempt to stop them from coming true!

Sega press release

Ready to head into Eggman’s noggin and start raising a ruckus? Sonic Dream Team is right around the corner, and will be arriving on December 5th, exclusively for Apple Arcade.
