Looking like it might be the best Sonic the Hedgehog title in a while, Sega’s Emerald-powered Sonic Superstars has arrived.
Seeing blue again
We’ve got quite a month here, and quite a week too, if you’re into some of gaming’s greatest platforming heroes. Sonic the hedgehog is definitely one of those, and his latest title has finally arrived today, with Sonic Superstars.
The new game brings back Sonic, Tails, Amy, and Knuckles, for an adventure into the new world of Northstar Islands. It’s there that the gang will have to harness the abilities granted by their all-new Emerald Powers, and put a stop to the rotten team of Dr. Eggman and Fang.
And if last year’s (very different) adventure that was presented with Sonic Frontiers didn’t quite do it for you, then Superstars might just hit the spot. It’s got a mixture of classic 2D Sonic gameplay and new additions, all wrapped up with some sharp looking graphics.
In Sonic Superstars, players will journey to the beautiful Northstar Islands and harness brand-new abilities known as the Emerald Powers to move and attack in dynamic ways. Swim up waterfalls, send multiple clones of yourself towards your target and more. Sonic and friends will race to stop the evil Dr. Eggman and Sonic’s longtime nemesis, Fang, from executing their diabolical plan to convert the island’s giant animals into Badniks, before it’s too late!

Sonic Superstars is at retail now, both physically and digitally, for Switch, plus Xbox and PlayStation platforms. It’s also out on the PC, though of course that’s a digital only version. If you want to go that extra mile though, the game also has a digitally-exclusive Deluxe Edition that’s available for all of the above.
