Neo-noir cyberpunk title Cloudpunk gets updated Xbox edition this month

Merge Games and developer Ion Lands are set to deliver an updated experience for Xbox-owning Cloudpunk fans.

Quality of delivery

First, no it’s not your imagination, Cloudpunk has been out for a while on Xbox. The title, which sets players in the cab of a futuristic delivery vehicle of dubious repute, original launched on October 15th, 2020. Thing is, that was for the Xbox One, and while the game is playable on the Xbox Series X|S, that version hasn’t gotten any update to bring it into the current-gen.

This new release will do that, and then some. According to the press release, Cloudpunk will not just see a boost with “faster loading times” and “higher fidelity visuals”, but will also get a totally new cockpit mode, and “more”.

A neon-noir story in a rain-drenched cyberpunk metropolis. It’s your first night on the job working for the Cloudpunk delivery service. There are only two rules: Don’t miss a delivery, and don’t ask what’s in the package.

Maximum Entertainment press release

Depending on which current-gen Xbox you’re playing on, you’ll see some differences in quality. Though both consoles have boosts, the Series X has an option-set that the S doesn’t. Namely, Cloudpunk on the X can be upscaled with either 4k 30fps or 1440p 60fps, while the Series S will see 1080p along with 60fps. Not bad either way, really.

It seems that beyond that, both versions are identical, including the cockpit view and additional enhancements. Also very nice is that, if you have a copy of the game already for the Xbox One, you can get the upgrade for free. So if you’ve not been to Nivalis lately, it might be time to head back into its rainy skies.

The new versions of Cloudpunk, for the Xbox Series X|S should be available now.
