Undead aRPG The Unliving creeps out of Early Access this month

Rising from Early Access just in time for Halloween is Team17 and RocketBrush Studio’s creep-out action RPG The Unliving.

Rise from your grave…

Looking for something spooky to play for Halloween week? If you are, you might be interested in the new supernaturally-themed action role-player from developer RocketBrush Studios. Dubbed The Unliving, the roguelite has been in Early Access, but will be going final just before the end of the month.

The title casts players as a Necromancer who’s on a quest to restore his “broken soul”. To accomplish that dark task, he must battle the forces of the living… and then raise them as his own nether-army. At least, that’s one option, the other is to sacrifice them to gain powerful magics to continue his mission.

While it’s procedurally generated, players can expect to see a “hand-crafted” look, playing off of classic 16bit aesthetics. Though, that said, these looks are a heck of a lot creepier than anything you’d see in the SNES/Genesis heyday.

RocketBrush Studio and Team17 Digital have today announced action RPG The Unliving launches out of Steam Early Access on 26th October. Combining rogue-lite and real-time strategy gameplay with a dark fantasy setting, The Unliving follows a vengeful Necromancer sweeping relentlessly across the land, smiting his enemies and reanimating fallen foes in pursuit of an antidote to restore his broken soul.

Team17 Digital press release

The Unliving is indeed creeping out of its Early Access tomb just before All Hallows, landing on the PC on the 26th of October. Again though, it is technically available right now, so if you just can’t wait you can always grab that Early Access version, and then get yourself updated when full-retail arrives.
