Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed on the way for Switch, with Ecto Edition, pre-orders open now

Four on one ghost-hunting action is coming to the Switch, with Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed’s Ecto Edition.

If you’ve yet to dive into Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, you’re in for a treat. The game multiplayer-centric (with solo play too) spirit hunting game is actually just about to launch for Nintendo’s console, and it’ll be doing it in “Ecto Edition” form.

Fully loaded and packed with all of the previously released DLC and updates, Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed Ecto Edition will allow players to bust across a varied list of locations that’s been boosted big time past the original launch. And not only that, but you’ll be able to do that as your own fully customized Ghostbusters staffer, in a post-Afterlife firehouse.

So yeah, Winston is the boss, and Ray is there to assist (or hinder) with spooky lore galore. And while the game’s centered on a multiplayer theme, it’s got a pretty fun story, with more to come. Can you say ‘Samhain’?

In Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, Ray and Winston open the Firehouse to you and the next generation of Ghostbusters. This asymmetrical game of hide and seek is a 4v1 setup where players will either play as part of a team of new Ghostbusters or a singular Ghost. This title not only allows players to enjoy the game solo or with up to four friends but will also have an online and offline single-player mode available in the form of bot-assisted play. Most importantly, the more you play, the more the story will unfold (with cutscenes.) Whether hunting or haunting, the game is easy to learn and fun to master!

Illfonic press release

Pre-orders go live for Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed Ecto Edition this Friday, September 28th, for the Nintendo Switch. The digital edition, which is packed with the four aforementioned DLC packs, is priced in at $19.99 USD and arrives on October 19th. Plenty of time to dig in and have some Halloween fun.

We also have to mention that there’s a physical edition coming too, from publisher Nighthawk Interactive. You can look for that before the end of 2023, though it’s definitely still a little ways off, and does not have a firm launch date just yet.
