Hit the links, visit Death’s Door, and more this month with PlayStation Plus’ free games

While Games with Gold is wrapping up, PlayStation Plus is still chugging with another monthly drop of freebies for subscribers to enjoy.

The tale of the ‘free’

August of 2023 is, as you probably know, the last month for Games with Gold. Microsoft’s monthly free games drop officially closes after this month, leading into a new “Core” class of Game Pass. But while 25 monthly ‘free’ titles is great, they’re not linked to your account like Games with Gold’s offerings were. Or, for that matter, like PlayStation Plus’ still are.

So if that makes a difference to you, and we certainly don’t know how many people actually care about that in the age of streaming, then good ol’ Plus is looking mighty appetizing right now. And if August is anything to go by, Sony seems to be continuing to deliver high quality titles.

The month’s offerings include PGA Tour 2K23, plus Media Molecule’s Dreams, and isometric action/adventure Death’s Door. Older games? Yes, outside of PGA Tour, they definitely are. But both Dreams and Death’s Door are solid titles, garnering decent acclaim when they originally hit.
