The full lineup revealed for DC’s summertime celebration, G’Nort’s Illustrated Swimsuit Special Edition

Surf, sand, and plenty of sun is all on the way for DC’s heroes and villains, in the pages of G’Nort’s Illustrated Swimsuit Special Edition.

Surf’s up

Announced quite a while ago now, DC Comics is joining in on what’s more or less the return of the ‘swimsuit edition’. That was a yearly happening back in the 90s, with comic book heroes and villains donning their beachwear for spoofs of the famed Sports Illustrated annual for a few of the big name publishers.

But although the yearly issue faded into obscurity for years, it made a return a few yers back and now the aforementioned DC is hopping on the bandwagon. Although we had news of this book a few months back, we now have the roster of centerfold artists and their subjects.

How can you have multiple centerfolds in a book? Well, they’re not all in each copy. According to DC, each issue of G’Nort’s Illustrated Swimsuit Special Edition will have a random fold. Those will include:

  • Poison Ivy by Jen Bartel
  • Nightwing and Barbara Gordon by Jorge Jimenez and Alejandro Sánchez
  • G’Nort himself, by Simon Bisley

Of course, those are just the centerfold images, and good old Green Lantern G’nort has his issue packed with plenty more. But while the pinups are the main event, the content list that will also include a number of actual stories.

G’nort’s Illustrated Swimsuit Edition collects some of the splashiest, steamiest, swimsuit covers from DC’s best talent, all in one place for the very first time, along with Steve Orlando, Paul Pelletier, Norm Rapmund, Adriano Lucas and Rob Leigh’s Midnighter and Apollo story, “Out There” from DC Cybernetic Summer, and a new 8-page story “Baewatch” featuring The Penguin—clad in the tightest bathing trunks you can imagine—by Julie Benson and Shawna Benson with art by Meghan Hetrick, Marissa Louise and Steve Wands.

Don’t forget the covers

But wait, there’s more, as we also have those actual covers to reveal. You can check them out in the gallery above, including what might seem be an odd final image. If you take a look at the Batman/Catwoman cover though, you might get what’s happening with that “Gotham Magazine” image. That pic will serve as the back cover to every copy of G’Nort’s Illustrated. The idea is that you can recreate the aforementioned cover, with your own ‘I’m Batman’ selfie.

All of the above will be in stores on August 29th, 2023, just in time to close out the summer. Stay tuned too, because we’ll have the actual centerfold variants for you as well, as soon as DC announces.
