Dark Horse heading into Halloween with new horror anthology

Don’t lose your head, but there’s a new horror anthology comic coming up from Dark Horse, and it’s set to hit just in time for Halloween.

The Hessian?!

Summer might just be heating up, but Dark Horse Comics is already looking forward. The publisher is casting its gaze towards the chilled early nightfalls and tumbling leaves of Halloweentime. It’s only a few months away you know, and this year that will mean a visit from the Headless Horseman.

A one-shot of terror, the Headless Horseman Halloween Annual will be the vehicle for that visitation, and bring a selection of individual tales from a cadre of macabre creators. Fans can look for the likes of “Angela Slatter (Castle Full of Blackbirds), Lukas Ketner (Count Crowley: Reluctant Midnight Monster Hunter), Olivia Stephens (Darlin’ and Her Other Names), Phillip Sevy (Tomb Raider, The House), Christie Porter, Leah Kilpatrick, David Dastmalchian (Count Crowley), Valeria Burzo (Castle Full of Blackbirds), Tyler Crook (Harrow County), Frank Cvetkovic (The House), and more” to all be included.

They’re work will go into the forging of a 5-pack of tales, each one meant to tingle spines and creep readers out.

If you’ve ever gotten lost while trick-or-treating, if writer’s block gives you a disproportionate sense of dread, if you won’t walk past that certain house down the road… just in case, if you have ever wondered why the new kid came to town or what could possibly make those spooky horror games even scarier, and especially if you think nothing can frighten you, this anthology is for you.

Dark Horse Comics press release

Weighing in at a colossal 56 pages, the Headless Horseman Halloween Annual will feature a main cover by Lukas Ketner, as well as a variant from Hellboy’s Mike Mignola. You can look for it to creep into stores on October 23, 2023.
