Surprises aplenty in the latest look at TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge’s new survival mode

More than just color swaps and a playable Usagi, TMNT: Shredder’s Revenge goes dimension hopping in the latest look at the DLC pack.

Putting the portal generator to use

Way more than just a survival mode, the Dimension Shellshock DLC for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Shredder’s Revenge will bring a completely new story to the game. And in the spirit of the base title, it’ll also host of cadre of guest stars and cameos from throughout the Turtles’ history.

As part of the recently announced Dimension Shellshock DLC, Survival Mode introduces collectible crystals that allow you to jump from dimension to dimension, with each dimension featuring its own unique look and feel. The extended footage tours the Edo dimension, inspired by Japan; the four Turtles in 8-bit backgrounds; and Splinter, Casey, April and Usagi in Omnichannel 6.

The new mode allows players to level up and grow stronger through runs across dimensions. After they die and have collected enough crystals, they unlock a new life, ninja power bars, Radical Mode and extra hit points. Players will also be granted the ability to skip dimensions, and Dimension Shellshock will come complete with flashy new character colors.

Dotemu press release

As you can see there, on top of everything else, Dimension Shellshock will surprisingly let players play as the villains of the base game. Kinda. Though they are not ‘actually’ the bad guys themselves, Dimension Shellshock will let players morph their hero into the form of Rocksteady, Bebop, or Shredder by way of a limited time power-up.

They’ll be able to choose between said power-ups and pizza, bonus crystal packs, and more at the close of each level. From the looks of things, as the dimensions go ever deeper and things get ever tougher, fans are going to need all the help they can get.

All in all, Dimension Shellshock is shaping up to be way more than just a simple ‘survival mode’. Fans of Shredder’s Revenge should stay tuned for the pack’s launch some time later this year.
