SDCC 23: The Loyal Subjects resurgence continues at the Con with exclusive TMNT

The Loyal Subjects has struck gold with its Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series, and will be bringing a load of exclusives to SDCC.

How Many TMNT lines are out there are the moment? How many of them are good? Yeah, somehow pretty much all of them are great in their own way, hitting specific niches of the fandom from the original comics to the upcoming animated film. And yet even with all of that already out there, The Loyal Subjects seems to have found a way to successfully add another one to the pile.

The indie company’s Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles series has exploded, creating and containing its own multiverse of Turtles. We’ve seen Mirage-flavored sets, the announcement of IDW comics versions, and now yet another slice of iconic media, with the TMNT II: Secret of the Ooze motion picture.

The Loyal Subjects has revealed that sculpts of Tokka, Rahzar, and Super Shredder will all be debuting at SDCC next month, in exclusive forms. The two mutant terrors will be cast in “arcade” colors, while Shredder will be Glow-in-the-Dark.

Of course, there’ll likely be more standard variations of all of these hitting at some point too, as that kind of variance is something TLS is pretty great at. Founder and CEO, Jonathan Cathey apparently actually listens to fans and collectors, and has put together a team of “professionals and creatives who quickly respond, on a dime to changes and trends”. So if enough fans want to see something fairly specific out of it, well it just might happen.

The modern comics figures are evidence of that, which will also be at SDCC 2023, by the way. They’ll be making landfall there before they hit online shops in August.

As you can see in the official checklist image, TMNT artist Mateus Santolouco will be on hand in the booth as well, for a series of appearances and autograph sessions. Check the poster for times, but he’ll be in attendance every day in some form.

Also, according to the press release, fans can expect giveaways in-booth too, so it’s gonna be a happenin’ spot. Just be aware that all of the above is likely to go fast. So if you want in on any or all of it, make sure you get to the booth nice and early.
