A prequel to Masters of the Universe: Revelations, Dark Horse’s Forge of Destiny explore Anwat Gar

The world of Masters of the Universe: Revelations is expanding once again, this time with a prequel that delves into the mysterious Anwat Gar.

K… Keldor?

Well this is interesting. We’re pretty big fans of MOTU in general here at BG, and we had assumed that Skeletor’s “Gar” origins were thrown out for Revelations… but maybe not. After all, why would there be an official prequel for the show set in the blue-skinned peoples capital of Anwat Gar?

For those who don’t know, it’s long been MOTU canon that Skeletor is actually a mystically-altered half-Gar named Keldor. Not only that, but he’s also the sibling of one King Randor. Of course, that’s the sovereign of Eternia and He-Man’s father. It gives old bone-head a direct claim to the throne, and quite a bit of motivation for unseating the King.

Is it once again the case in Dark Horse’s new expansion for the story of Masters of the Universe: Revelation? That we don’t know, but even though the show didn’t hint at the point, the setting for Forge of Destiny is definitely curious.

On the world of Eternia, a fragile balance exists between science and magic–a balance kept by the universe’s mightiest hero, He-Man! On a peaceful mission to the island nation of Anwat Gar, the royal Eternian caravan comes under attack by the minions of the evil Skeletor. And on the island itself, the nefarious Evil-Lyn sets in motion a plan that could lead to all-out war!
