Nintendo Download: The More You Grow

The surprise launches of Pikmin 1 and 2 highlight the week for the Nintendo Switch, which also includes Fire Emblem and more.

It’s a Pikmin kinda week

Yesterday’s Nintendo Direct presented fans with more than a few games to look forward too, launching through the rest of the year. Those included Pikmin 4, though if you’re a fan of the little leaf-men, the news went further than that.

That’s due to Nintendo surprise launching the first two games in the long-running series on the Switch. Both are out right now, both individually or as part of a special bundle.

While there isn’t a ton else out this week, there is the release of Fire Emblem, on Nintendo’s Switch Online + Expansion Pack. If you’re a subscriber, you’ll automatically get the original Game Boy Advance release for play on the Switch. It’s a true classic, and spawned the whole series, so if you haven’t played it, now’s your chance.

As for what else is out, there’s isn’t really anything notable. That’s not to say the usual lineup of smaller releases isn’t available, because there are plenty of them. Usually there are a few names you’d know though, and that’s not the case this week.

Nintendo eShop on Nintendo Switch

• Pikmin 1 and Pikmin 2 – HD versions of the first two Pikmingames, originally released on the Nintendo GameCube system, are available now for the Nintendo Switch system!   • Fire Emblem – Also known as Fire Emblem: The Blazing Blade, the Fire Emblem game for the Game Boy Advance system was the first installment in the series to launch outside of Japan and features all the fierce tactical combat and rich, intrigue-filled storytelling the series is known for. The nation of Lycia stands on the precipice of war after centuries of peace, and now Lyn, Eliwood and Hector must amass their own army to fight back against the forces that would destroy everything they hold dear.
