Carnage is ready to rumble in Marvel’s Death of the Venomverse

Let the slaying begin, as Marvel Comics’ number one serial-killing symbiote Carnage is back, and ready to put the hurt on the King in Black, Knull.

It wasn’t all that long ago that Knull, the King in Black, put the Marvel U in a vise. The god of the alien race of symbiotes, Knull was a previously unseen cosmic force unto himself, and triggered a massive crossover event in the pages of Marvel’s superhero books.

But my have the tables apparently turned, as the former big-bad is set to be the prey for none other than Carnage. Well, eventually. Before he gets to the boss, he’s gonna burn through a whole mess of… Venoms. It’s a story dubbed Death of the Venomverse, and will be the culmination for Marvel’s Summer of Symbiotes.

Basically, Carnage is on a quest to unseat Knull. It’s one that’ll take him across universes, and pit him against a multiverse of variant-Venoms.

Launching in August, DEATH OF THE VENOMVERSE will be a five-issue limited series that unleashes CARNAGE on a quest to become the new KING IN BLACK. Carnage has been building his powers up, extracting unique abilities from many villains throughout the Marvel Universe and now traverses the Multiverse with a singular goal: KILL ANY AND ALL VENOMS! Throughout Carnage’s savage rampage, fans can expect to see some of their favorite new symbiote charterers that debuted in EXTREME VENOMVERSE along with brand-new ones including a top-secret new symbiote hero who will be revealed at a later date. The limited series will also include a classic tale in the vein of Venom: Lethal Protector by Venom co-creator David Michelinie.

Penned by one Cullen Bunn, Summer of Symbiotes: Death of the Venomverse will open up the action in August, and run through September. Look for Gerardo Sandoval to handle the art duties, with some very medieval-looking covers from Björn Barends.
