With gibs aplenty, Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition will have a Next Fest demo

The latest version of the classic FPS Rise of the Triad will bear a “Ludicrous Edition” tag, and you’ll be able to get a taste of what’s in store this June.

Get back, get back

If you played Rise of the Triad in any of its forms, then you might be wondering how it could get any more “Ludicrous”. The 90s shooter was already rife with comedic action, insane amounts of blood and guts, and zany weaponry. But thanks to Apogee, Nightdive Studios, and New Blood Interactive, there’s more where that came from. Plenty more.

Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition, firstly, will remaster the classic. So the game should look better than ever, while still keeping its retro-sensibilities. But past that, players can expect what sounds like almost a ‘director’s cut’.

Pumped? Psyched?! Well, good, because you’re going to be able to play this blastathon pretty dang soon. The Ludicrous Edition of RotT will be a part of Steam’s upcoming Next Fest this June, featuring a demo to try out.

Of course, that’ll be exclusive to the PC, but Rise of the Triad: Ludicrous Edition is on the way digitally for pretty much everything. Xbox and PlayStation platforms will be getting the game, as well as the Switch (and again, the PC) when it hits in the “near future”. Fans can looks for additional physical editions too, on the way from Limited Run Games in both standard and Collector’s Edition formats.
