Still on the way for its home platform, the PC, Sega and Relic Entertainment have announced that Company of Heroes 3 will be console-bound as well.
Waging war on consoles
Company of Heroes 3 is bringing the series’ intimate boots-on-the-ground storytelling to the Mediterranean, a theater of immense environmental variety, where players can unlock authentic new tactics, experience four distinct factions, and a wealth of untold stories from World War II. Explore the new turn-based Dynamic Campaign Map in Italy for a sandbox-style gameplay experience and an unprecedented level of strategic choice, or head over to the sweeping deserts of North Africa for a more classically designed, narrative-led single-player experience.
Sega press release
You’ll note that there’s special branding for the console edition of Company of Heroes 3, and there’s a reason for that. Namely, that the game is being completely “rebuilt” for the Xbox Series X|S and PS5.
It sounds like that will mainly center on the controller, and streamlining the game’s controls to better fit a pad instead of a keyboard and mouse. But along with that, Sega says that you can also expect a different UI.
The User Interface will have “a full revamp, factoring in intuitive button layouts and readability, making for the ultimate strategy experience on consoles.”
Lots more to see on Company of Heroes 3: Console Edition, so stay tuned. The game is set for launch some time in 2023, with the PC edition hitting on February 23rd.
