Check out 8 minutes of “grotesque” gameplay in the latest look at Scorn

Hope you have a strong stomach, because the latest glimpse of horror title Scorn has arrived, and it’s loaded with 8 minutes of puzzle-heavy gameplay.

Have you eaten recently?

Scorn, if you somehow don’t know, is a… unique horror title. The game is set in a biomechanical hellscape, but you best lose any thoughts of it being an “Alien” me-too. That’s because Ebb Software and publisher Kepler Interactive’s unsettling freakout is a vision all its own.

Today Kepler delivered what’s probably the lengthiest look yet at it in action, with sections cut from the game’s intro. It’s loaded with uncomfortable visuals for sure, and also a good sense of the puzzles that await in Scorn. That including a hint at just how those puzzles will play out.

If you’re expecting in-depth hand-holding and descriptors, think again.

In Scorn’s exploration of a surreal, nightmarish world, players will come to understand the character they’re guiding, if only slightly. Tasked with exploring Scorn’s hellscape, players must learn its rules and master its puzzles without any guidance or support, being left to fend for themselves in a totally immersive experience. By uncovering these secrets and gathering the strange bio-mechanical tools that seem to have been used by the civilization that previously called this world home, surviving might just be possible. Finding the truth, however, is an entirely different question.

Kepler Interactive press release

Scorn is set to arrive on the Xbox Series X|S and PC on October 21st. The game will also arrive for Game Pass on day one. Too a nice little Halloween treat there for subscribers.

About Jason

Jason's been knee deep in videogames since he was but a lad. Cutting his teeth on the pixely glory that was the Atari 2600, he's been hack'n'slashing and shoot'em'uping ever since. Mainly an FPS and action guy, Jason enjoys the occasional well crafted title from every genre.
