Captain Americas collide in Marvel’s Cold War

A new crossover event will put both of Marvel Comics’ current Captain Americas up against a new threat, and see the return of Nomad.

Double the Cap, double the fun

To make a long story short, and just in case you don’t know, both Steve Rogers and Sam Wilson are ‘Captain America’ in Marvel’s books. Although Rogers was the sole Captain America not that long ago, Marvel took Sam’s rise as Cap in the Marvel movies and TV shows and ran with that. Make of it what you will, but the movies lead the comics now.

Still, even with that lament, Cold War sounds promising. For one thing, there’s a ton of action being promised, as well as some conspiratorial stuff, and the return out-of-the-blue return of Nomad. Obviously, it isn’t Cap Steve, so who’s in the costume will be a big part of this new event.

It’s going to have a pretty long lead-in too, with year-end issues serving as a setup for the 2023 Cold War.

Here’s what November is going to look like:

In CAPTAIN AMERICA: SENTINEL OF LIBERTY #6, Captain America has misjudged his place in the battle against the elusive Outer Circle…and it’s about to cost him everything. The Century Game has been turned upside down. And when the dust settles, Steve Rogers’ world will never be the same again.

In CAPTAIN AMERICA: SYMBOL OF TRUTH #7, featuring guest artist Ig Guara, the White Wolf’s latest attack has put Falcon in critical condition and sparked a civil war in Mohannda. When Sam Wilson’s role as Captain America prevents him from pursuing his own justice on an international scale, his government contact sets him up with a surprising new partner – an old ally long thought dead. As teased yesterday, It’s the return of Nomad! But who will bear the mantle this time, and will their assistance be a blessing or a curse?

Marvel Comics press release

In addition to the above, November will also see the release of Captain America and the Winter Soldier Special. The one-shot will focus on what the villainous Outer Circle will have in store for Bucky, and give readers a look at the lives of 4 members of the group. Marvel says that’ll be “Power, Money, Machine, Love, and Revolution”. And yes, I know that’s actually five.

Captain America: Sentinel of Liberty #6 leads the way, landing on November 9th. That’s followed by Captain America & The Winter Soldier Special #1 on the 16th, and capped off with Captain America: Symbol of Truth #7 on the 23rd.
