Star Wars returns to Dark Horse with Hyperspace Stories

As announced last year, Star Wars is once again heading back to its longtime home at Dark Horse. It begins again with Hyperspace Stories.

Old is new again

You likely know Star Wars comics’ backstory as well as you know the Star Wars saga itself by now. And if you do, then I think you’d have to admit that this is a pretty interesting turn of events. After leaving Dark Horse for Marvel, the license was handed off to IDW for a short stint, and is now turning a complete 360.

Dark Horse Comics will once again be publishing tales from that Galaxy Far, Far Away with the upcoming Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories. But if you’re looking for something serialized, this isn’t quite it… just yet anyway.

The all-ages Hyperspace Stories will be an anthology series, and a maxi-series at that, so it’s limited in nature. The book will be featuring tales from across the Star Wars timeline. Dark Horse has brought on talent like Cecil Castelluci and Michael Moreci for the book, but will have the team of Amanda Deibert and artist Lucas Marangon of the first issue.

When the members of a Republic mission led by Senator Padmé Amidala are abducted by the ruthless Separatist General Grievous, Anakin Skywalker and Obi-Wan Kenobi jump to the rescue. But the operation quickly goes awry, and the Jedi find themselves cut off and surrounded by an army of battle droids!

Dark Horse Comics press release

Look for Star Wars: Hyperspace Stories #1 (of 12) on the racks this August 10th.
