Sniper Elite 5 takes aim at a May launch on consoles and PC

The newest entry in the long-running WWII series from Rebellion, Sniper Elite 5 is set to blast onto consoles and the PC this spring.

In my sights

Sniper Elite has been around for a long time as a series. Debuting in 2005, the series is known for its long-range gunplay, as well as its absolutely brutal x-ray kill shots. Think Mortal Kombat’s x-ray moves, but with bullets. And, come to think of it, Sniper Elite did it first.

Now it’s about to do it one more time as well, with a fifth Sniper Elite title. The newest installment of the series is due this spring, officially dated for May the 26th, 2022.

Here’s the latest look at it in action:

The new trailer gives details of the storyline and the main characters that will feature in Sniper Elite 5 as elite marksman Karl Fairburne uncovers a Nazi plot to turn the tide of the Second World War, codenamed Operation Kraken. Karl has to use all of the skills at his disposal to gather intelligence about the plans and make sure they never come to fruition. This will pit him against the scheme’s mastermind, Abelard Möller, an Axis Obergruppenführer, who must be stopped at any cost.

Along with the release date, we also have some news on pre-order goodies and the Deluxe Edition to share. In the case of the Deluxe, that might be the version to target if you’re a long time fan, as it’ll likely keep you playing for a while.

The Deluxe Edition of Sniper Elite 5 will include a good deal of post-launch content. That includes what’s more or less a whole ‘nother campaign to play through.

Deluxe Edition

Rebellion has also revealed the details of the Sniper Elite 5 Deluxe Edition, which will not only include the pre-order content but also the Season Pass. This will give players access to a post-release two-part campaign on extensive maps where they can arm themselves with an expanded armory of authentic World War II weapons and customize their sniper with new character packs and weapon skins.  The Season Pass comes fully loaded with:

  • Two Campaign Missions
  • Two Weapon skin packs
  • Two Character Packs
  • Six Weapon Packs

As for those pre-order bonuses, they’re actually included in with the Deluxe as well, and include the “P.1938 Suppressed Pistol” and a very special mission.

Players who pre-order Sniper Elite 5 will also receive the latest mission of the much-heralded ‘Target Führer’ campaign entitled “Wolf Moutain.” Players will get to infiltrate the Berghof, Hitler’s private mountain retreat in the Bavarian Alps, which is crawling with heavily armed personal guards, and a slew of collectibles for eagle-eyed snipers. They are tasked with taking down the Führer in the most imaginative way possible.
