Marvel’s Defenders: Beyond introduces a wholly new team to take on the Beyond

With yesterday’s teaser in mind, Marvel has revealed the next iteration of The Defenders. And as you can see, they’re probably not what you expected.

We told you about Marvel’s latest Defenders run just yesterday, with a special teaser image. The artwork depicted none other than iconic villain, The Beyonder. The godlike creature behind the original Secret Wars, The Beyonder was poised to be the first villain that this new team would take on.

At the time, we didn’t know who those heroes would be of course. And now we do. If you were expecting a Silver Surfer, Valkyrie, or maybe even an X-Man to two to be in the mix however, you were dead wrong.

Instead Marvel is giving fans a squad consisting of (a version of) Loki, Tigra, Blue Marvel, America Chavez, and… Galactus’ mom. So much for the classics.

It all kicks off when Doctor Strange sends a dire warning from beyond the grave! Blue Marvel, America Chavez, Taaia (the mother of Galactus), Tigra, and Loki (a variant of the God of Mischief who should be familiar to readers of Ewing’s LOKI: AGENT OF ASGARD series) will have assemble to defend reality itself! Their mission will take them to the very limits of space and time (and beyond it) as they confront questions few heroes have dared to ask and receive answers no one in the Marvel Universe is prepared for…
