PS+ includes Edith Finch and Overcooked for May 2019

This month’s free games for PS+ subscribers are a little lackluster. Also a little old. Nevertheless, the original Overcooked and Edith Finch are free.

How old?

It’s not like PlayStation Plus fans are used to getting new stuff. Really, when you think about it, all of the freebies that the PS4’s subscription service offers are kind of old. That said though, this month’s selection is positively geriatric.

Gamers looking for free plays in May of 2019 will have to select between Overcooked and What Remains of Edith Finch. Yes, that’s the original Overcooked, not the sequel that was released last year. It saw launch in 2016, by the way. As for Edith Finch, that came out in 2017. See what I mean about these games being long in the tooth?

Now, it should also be noted that both of these games are pretty high quality. Overcooked is a favorite among a few of the editors here at BG, and was a pretty big hit when it saw release (hence the sequel). The lighthearted title tasks gamers with cooking up some vittles, and offers four-player action.

As for Edith Finch, that’s the opposite end of the spectrum in terms of feel. It’s down, and more than a little sad at times. But it is also an excellent indie game that got a ton of adoration from the press as well as gamers.

So both of these are good, it’s just they’ve both been out for a long time. Chances are that, if you had any interest, you’d have played them already. If not though, well, here’s your chance.
