Team Eggman joins Team Sonic Racing

The villains have arrived. Team Eggman has been revealed for Sega’s upcoming kart racer sequel, Team Sonic Racing.

I prefer calling him “Robotnik”, but there’s no mistaking Sonic the Hedgehog’s number one foe no matter the title. And today Sega revealed the nefarious nogoodnik’s team as they’ll appear in Team Sonic Racing.

• Eggman [Technique] – a.k.a. Dr. Ivo Robotnik is the main archenemy of Sonic, with a personal goal of achieving world domination
• Metal Sonic [Speed] – one of Eggman’s lethal creations, this cold, violent machine aims to prove that he’s the better hedgehog between him and the Blue Blur
• Zavok [Heavy] – the leader of the Deadly Six, a demon-like being that continues to battle Sonic and friends whenever the opportunity arises

So two fan favorites and a wild card with Zavok. Pretty cool actually. I also like that Robotnik is apparently Eggman’s proper name now, with the eggy nomenclature looking like a super villain title. That’s new I think, and welcome as a long time fan who refers the former name to the latter.

Also continuing to look great is Team Sonic Racing itself, which is inching closer and closer to a launch.

May 21st is the date when you’ll be able to hit the track once again with Sonic and crew. Watch for it on Xbox One, PS4, Switch, and on the PC (in digital only form, natch’).
