E3 2016: Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild trailer debuts

The next Zelda title has a name, and a smattering of details to go along with the incredible-looking first trailer.

It’s been a while, but The Legend of Zelda is back in a very, very big way. And I mean that in terms of the importance of this new game, and the size of its world.

The trailer is a flat-out stunner, with monstrous vistas and an incredible scope. Certainly highlights for a game that looks to be halfway between Wind Waker and Twilight Princess, graphically. And by that, I mean that it’s as pretty as you can get. I will say that it looks a little odd to see the really cartoony monsters attacking a somewhat less-so Link, but I’ll reserve judgement on that.

That’s mainly because Hyrule itself has never looked better, and it seems like Link will have a little more of a survivalist bent in this one too. Did you notice him arrowing that Boar? Yep, looks like hunting will be a factor. Not really a fan of that, but oh well.

It seems that the rumors were indeed true too, and this will be a dual console release. Hitting for both the Wii U and the NX (which still has no name), The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild will follow the same release pattern as the aforementioned Twilight Princess (which hit the Wii and Wii U). That’s not to imply that there’s a release date yet however. In true Nintendo fashion, it’s still a mystery.

We’ll let you know though, as soon as we hear anything.
