The True Colors of Darkness emerge in Dark Souls III

Lots and lots of gameplay are the centerpiece in this new trailer for Dark Souls III, which is entitled ‘The True Colors of Fear’.

“Grotesque enemies, lethal weapons and the classic sword and sorcery combat and rewarding action-RPG gameplay” is what’s highlighted in the press release for this one, and that all seems about right. Of course, this is Dark Souls though, so you really have to add on that it’ll be crushingly hard as well.

The trailer kind of does that sure, but it’s worth repeating I think. That’s also one of the biggest selling points for the whole series, just in case you don’t know. Dark Souls (and Demon’s Souls, and Bloodbourne) have a legion of fans who adore the brutality of the series. It’s unforgiving and demands perfection, and that’s a big part of the allure in an age where games tend to hold your hand and walk you through the campaign. I doubt Dark Souls III will be any different.

Dark Souls III will hit the PS4, Xbox One, and PC on April 12th.
